4 Months

Height: 26.5 inches

Weight:  16 lb 5 oz

Clothes:  3-6 month jammies, 6 month Onsies and usually 3-6 months on shorts or pants.

Eating:  Still loving Mama's milk!  I am no hurry to start her on solids. After talking to the doctor, I'm going to keep breastfeeding and then introduce small things like banana, orange, etc. when she is able to grab things for her self (5-6 months?). I have zero interest in pureeing peas and force feeding her. When she can look at something and grab it herself (providing it is healthy) then she can have it. "Food before one is just for fun" so the most important source of nutrients for her is breast milk.

Sleeping:  I could not be more proud of my little girl. She has consistently slept through the night since 8 weeks old! I'm talking 8-12 hours without waking up. Now she is sleeping a solid 12 hours every night. Her typical bed time is between 8 and 8:30 and she is always nursed to sleep which is very special for her and I to have alone time in the nursery. We got sooo lucky. She must know how much mommy and daddy like their sleep!

Diapering:  Loving pampers and any type of wipes!

Trips:  2 weekends ago, Gracie went on her first camping trip! She had lots of fun and so did we. I am so excited for her to go on more. David and I keep talking about wanting to save money and taking a short trip to the beach and put her toes in the sand and water!

Playtime: Gracelyn is such a happy baby I can barely stand it. She loves getting tickled and kissed. She loves being on her back playing with toys above her and she also loves kicking her little legs. Tummy time has worked in her favor because her neck control is amazing. I'm super proud of her! She is beginning to grab things which is very exciting.

Likes:  Touching people's faces (this is so adorable...) Blowing spit bubbles, being tickled, she loves when I say , "Where's Gracelyn? There she is!" She will laugh and it is the cutest thing I've ever seen. She loves being called pretty, beautiful, gorgeous or anything like that, and she likes when I sing to her or just talk about my day with her. Seeing that gummy smile makes my heart melt. I adore her!

Milestones:  She had her 1st cold which was no fun at all! I used lots of baby vicks and the dreaded blue bulb!

Best Moment:  The best moments are every second I spend with her. Seeing her smile at me first thing in the morning makes everything I do for her worth it. I love getting super close to her face and watching her slowly bring her hands to my face and feel my cheeks. She will "talk" to me and make bubbles and just observe the big world around her. My heart is so full because I'm her mom. Sometimes I feel it could just break at any second. I couldn't love her more.

Finding Shade in the Desert

A few weeks ago we went camping with David's parents. We had a blast, like always!  There was one day specific when I was trying to either change Gracelyn's diaper or put a sweater on her- I can't remember...honestly, knowing me,  I was probably trying to do both at the same time! Anyway, she was fighting me, pulling away and getting cranky with me but it had to be done. I finally got frustrated and said, "Grace, if only you knew that what I was doing was to help you and not hurt you, you wouldn't fight so much."  Immediately, my mother-in-law chimed in, "...You know, Sarah, how many times does God say that to US daily?" I was struck by those words and I laughed because it is so true. All the time.  Right now, we're going through a new series at church called Walking With God in the Desert. You know, in life we go through some stinky stuff- things that make us tired and exhausted, things that we have no desire to do or go through. Ki...

Dear Gracelyn,

Sweet baby, you're two! My, how time has just flown by. Here we are on your second birthday and I am more in love with you now then ever before. You are so independent, so strong willed, brave and energetic. You get all of that from daddy. We are so proud of the little girl you have become and we can't wait to watch you grow up to be so much more. I am so blessed by you, Gracelyn. You have made me a better person all around.  I can't even remember what I used to do for fun. How many hours did I waste watching TV? Everything is much more fun with you around. I am reliving my childhood through your eyes and I have to say- it's one of the greatest experiences ever. One of my absolute favorite things about you is how you try not to smile and your lips press together as you try to hold back. Oh my goodness, EXACTLY like your dad. People say you either look just like him or a mix of both of us. Either way, you are the most beautiful little soul I have ever known. You...
